Travel to Minsk, Belarus

I had a few friends that visited Belarus and were all happy and talking how clean and nice Minsk is. They were talking that Belarus had the best looking girls, nice food, friendly people, but a bit expensive when talking about hotel and transportation. Indeed flight tickets to Belarus are really expensive. I was flying from Warsaw to Minsk using LOT(Polish company) and the ticket price was about 400 US dollars for both way flight and I booked it a month in advance. Moreover there were no real alternatives. Hotels seemed to be expensive too at the beginning, but then I found a few deals and hotel was like 60 USD for single room.
One more problem that I faced was Belarus visa. It is not the problem of getting it, but the list of the documents to present. The so-called tourist voucher and invitation letter must be included with the application for visa. Tourist voucher is like a contract that is done on money-type paper with various protections(why?) and should be done by Belarus tourist operator. Invitation letter is a letter that states your hotel booking and ordered services from Belarus travel agency and is supposed to guarantee that you have some services and support from Belarus based companies. It is strange, but that is what required.
